Demelum recently relocated from the cooler, misty landscapes of Scotland to the sunny, friendly shores of Mackay. Demelum started her physiotherapy journey in Nigeria, where she earned her undergraduate degree in 2018. She then continued her studies in the UK, where she completed a Master’s in Physiotherapy at Cardiff University. Over the years, she’s worked in various settings, including trauma and orthopaedics, geriatrics, and with individuals who have challenging behaviours. This wide range of experience has given her a rich skill set and the ability to handle all sorts of patient needs.
While working with the NHS, Demelum managed a complex spinal caseload during the pandemic backlog. This experience was eye-opening, as she saw how simple conditions could turn into chronic issues, highlighting some gaps in back and neck pain management. This led to her deep interest in chronic pain management. Right now, Demelum is furthering her expertise by pursuing a Master’s in Pain Management at the University of Sydney, with plans to become an APA-titled pain specialist. In addition, she has undertaken several spinal related courses help her provide even better care for complex pain conditions.
Outside of work, Demelum loves traveling and exploring new cultures, which enriches both her personal life and her professional approach. When she’s at home, she enjoys relaxing with movies and spending time with friends.
